Total Organic Carbon Analysis

ECA has been offering Total Organic Carbon testing in water samples for many years. TOC is used to detect the presence of organic compounds contamination in water samples. TOC testing is routinely used by the Pharmaceutical industry to verify the purity of water used in manufacturing of GMP products. ECA uses an OI Analytical 1010 Total Organic Carbon Analyzer. This TOC instrument uses a chemical oxidation method employing persulfate and UV radiation to convert organic molecules to carbon dioxide which is subsequently measured by an infrared detector. We regularly perform the USP <643> method for trace analysis of TOC in water samples. We also have the capability to perform DOC or Dissolved Organic Carbon in seawater samples. This technique is widely used to determine the TOC content in seawater samples after filtration for the purpose of understanding a number of parameters in the ocean ecosystem.
